I am using a BENQ External DVD Drive, i already burnt the image onto a dvd and it loads fine on my other computers with internal DVD drives, but on this computer i only have an external dvd drive that does not "load" or "Start up" at the initial boot. ( i do not get the msg to press any key to boot up disc) I do not have the img on this computer only on my other one, i tried copying files on the dvd to hard drive then creating iso img and then using DAEMON Tools but that still does not work.
Any Help ?
Thanks DJ DIO

Help! Using External DVD Drive
You can copy the files to it's own folder on the drive you want to install it on and run it from there, but you have to run it from with in Windows. Thats what I did, it runs faster also.

Where exacly would be the best place for me to install it? And by copying the files you mean copying the files from the DVD right?
Thanks Again
Create a Folder on the partition you want to install Vista on, Copy the files from the DVD to the Folder you created. Then open the folder and click on the setup.exe.

To tell you the truth, not to sure how to create partitions, and i was basically planning to just upgrade to vista ... hopefully that would do the thing i want it to, but just need some info on creating a partition, and wat exacly i need to know, how much space i need ext. I got lots and lots of space so thats not an issue.
Thanks Jim i really appreciate it
You don't need to create a partition, just create a folder for the files from the dvd and upgrade.

Ok.. i actually did do that and when cliking on the setup i get an error messge that it is not a valid win 32 application.
You know I was going to ask you which version you were trying to install. You can't run Vista 64bit from a 32bit XP. You have two choises. 1. Download the 32bit version. 2. Get a internal DVD drive.

Which probably means you downloaded the 64-bit version. You'll need the 32-bit version.
